I bought this darling outfit in Little India back in March and finally got around to taking some pictures of Samara in it last week. This was one of the first ones. She wasn't too thrilled that we continued past the initial pose. Poor thing will probably seek counseling someday because either mom's or the locals' cameras are constantly in her face. When we were out once with Tanya and Sasha, this group of like 15 tourists swarmed the two of them, who were sitting there, and each proceeded to take their own personal snapshot with the two of them. The paparazzi should look to hire from Asia. It also doesn't help that one of her parents (I won't name names here or point fingers) told her if she didn't want Mommy to take her picture anymore then she just needed to look away and say, 'I'm all done with pictures'. Anyway, here's a little breakdown of how the next 10 minutes went.

"I can't work in this environment. I'm already hot and sweaty, my hair's all a mess and sticking to me, and I don't like the scarf. It's too itchy." After the promise of M&Ms she agreed to take a few more pictures. What..who me? I'd never use that to bribe my sweet baby.
"I don't want to wear this scarf. I don't like it."

Young lady, keep it on or you are not getting ANY M&Ms.
My favorite picture of the bunch.

"Fine, but I will look away just like Daddy taught me."
At least it makes for a cute pose.

"My patience is running out. You have two more minutes."

"I'm all done. Finished! How can you expect me to work in these conditions? This isn't worth M&Ms!"
The Indians here are so kind and friendly. They are all fascinated by Samara. We've been told it is the pale skin. They love to stare at her and take pictures with her. So, I came up with an idea to fund our travels. I'm going to print a few of these and start selling them when they come up to us or I'll just charge them to take a photo.

Last but not least...look who sort of almost has enough hair for "pony nails"! I wonder if her hair would grow faster if we stopped giving her cold water to drink.
Disclaimer One: This wasn't our actual conversation-just my version of it.
Disclaimer Two: They are the small baking M&Ms and I'd feed her the healthy version if they had them here or didn't cost $20/bag. This disclaimer was for my mom and sister particularly.
Samara looks gorgeous! Seriously, she could be a baby model!! =0) You are such a good mommy! I never would've thought of actually offering her something to sit still. That is pretty smart!! =0)
ReplyDeleteI am dying. The dialog is great! All my photo clients are asked to bribe their children with ice cream once the photo shoot is over. The children do so well for me. I think it's totally worth it!! a little m&m will never kill anyone! Great photos, Cheryl!
ReplyDeletepshaw. Kids are meant to be bribed.
ReplyDeleteThe only way we get decent pictures is with M&M's being rattled in the background.
And it's also good for rewards for poops. Just so you know.
Very cute. I have heard my daughter say many times, "Mom, don't take any more pictures, okay?" Unfortunately, they don't have a choice with snap happy moms like us!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable! I love the caption of her walking away, like she is SO FED UP. The closeup is darling too.
When I first read your comment on my blog about shooting in manual, I read, "shooting in manual is the BEST." Not BEAST. So honestly, all morning I was like, "What the heck is wrong with me? Cheryl thinks shooting in manual is the BEST and I'm loosing hair and going gray over this!"
Boy was I relieved to find out you think it's a beast. Probably about as relieved as you were to find out why your husband went bald.
Those Asians are pretty smart. :)
Hey Cherylkins. I noticed your blog in a comment to Suzi on facebook - so now I'm stalking yours. :) Samara is such a cutie - and I LOVE your commentary on the photo shoot. I especially love the last picture of her walking away with her arms up. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteI went to Taiwan when I was 7 (as a little blue-eyed blondie) and it didn't take me long to learn how to understand "can we take your picture?" I can't tell you how many pictures I was in - it would be funny to run across one someday.
I love this pictures. She is adorable in that outfit and the colors pop so well! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you're the funniest thing on the planet! I love the dialogue, the pictures, the YOU of it all! Sooo cute. We miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I've heard it. "Enough pictures GG. No. No more pictures."
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is too daggone cute for words - not to mention the child in the outfit! Ditto on the "my favorite is the walking-away-with-the-hands-in-the-air picture."
And by the way, I bribe Emily all the time - it's a GG's right. Jonathan's turn is coming. Right now he's still too young to know he has a choice.
Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures!!! the outfit is so cute and Samara looks darling! She could be a baby-model!!
Natalie used to hate me following her with my camera, but after almost four years she got used to it and now she asks me to take a picture of her... she poses for me. it's cute! so good luck and keep those pictures coming they are adorable!
Cheryl? Little, baking M&Ms? Seriously? With all this paparazzi and stress, that girl needs some full-size, peanut butter-filled M&Ms!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is adorable. I'll be touching base with you closer to leaving time to pick something up for my kids. (Although they'd NEVER look as cute as Samara!)
Cheryl, I love love love it! You got it goin' on girl! I want some outfits for my girls too so they can whine and complain when I take their pics in them! Cause I never follow through on my bribing and I think that they have caught on.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are adorable!!
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world are the "healthy version" of M&M's?
I get stopped all the time because of Matthew's hair and that is just in New England. I can't imagine what it would be like where you live. I think you should sell those photos- maybe even teach Samara to sign her name to the bottom.
