Samara has been very protective of her "mei mei" since she was born. In the beginning, when people would try to look at Lizzie, Samara would quickly pull the top down on the car seat or the stroller. Even when somebody who Samara didn't know well would hold the baby, I'd see Samara's stress level rise. She'd often ask, "Why is that lady holding Elizabeth? Did she wash her hands?" She tells everyone, "Her name is Elizabeth Helen. She was upside down (meaning breach)." However, Samara spent most of first couple months, like the above photo, just observing and not too interested in handling her. She'd hold her for 10 seconds and say, "Ok. I'm done."
But now that Lizzie is interacting more, Samara is all over her: "Mom, she's not saying cheese! Lizzie, say cheese!"; while grabbing her legs, saying "She's kicking me mom!"; rubbing Lizzie's hand on her face, "Her nails are sharp. She's scratching me", "she's looking at me", "she's not looking at me", etc. I'm assuming this is why second children don't have the same 'personal space' issues as first children?!
Mara can't wait for Lizzie to be able to play more. I'm sure they will be best friends and worst enemies as they grow up. We sure love these sweet faces!!
Too cute!! Can't wait till next year to meet this gorgeous girl, and of course to see gorgeous girl #1 again.
ReplyDeleteYeah, poor Stella will never understand that phrase "personal space" either. She and Lizzie can commiserate together!
That's so funny! I always love you're posts. I can't wait to get to hold her. Emily would do the same thing with Jonathan when he was little-she didn't want anyone to look at him or hold him.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I absolutely love your pictures!!! and your post reminded me of my girls when Anna was a newborn. Natalie kept saying the same things as Samara says now and she aslo couldn't wait to play with Anna. she asways asked me: when is she going to talk, mommy? now they play and chase each other. it's the best thing for me to watch. I'm so happy for you guys and your girls!
ReplyDeleteYour kids are beautiful. You are lucky, I had no reprieve with any of my kids. They were always all over the newest baby.
ReplyDeleteOh precious! I love how Lizzie is yawning in the picture. :) It looks so beautiful and peaceful. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are an amazing photographer!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you might be able to fool everyone else but you can't fool me. That is not a baby, that's a porcelain doll. Gorgeous little girls you have there.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Sometimes I want to cry reading how loing other people's children are. Mine are always at each others throats. Love the girls, so beautiful.
