Happy National Day!

Tomorrow marks 44 years from the day that Singapore seceded from Malaysia. It's a big celebration called National Day. They have a theme each year; this year's is "Come Together". It is amazing to think of how far Singapore has come since its secession from Malaysia and how different the two countries are. There are literally flags everywhere as you can see from the picture. Almost all the buildings are decorated with flags to some degree or another. Samara has been very keen on pointing them out to us and was delighted to have her own flags.

  1. I know this is terrible (in my defense somehow in all my moving around as a teenager I never took geography), until I read this post I thought Singapore was a city in China.

  3. Charlotte, that is hilarious!! I'm glad it's not a city in China. There would definitely be more complaining post if it were.

  4. She just gets cuter & cuter with every post (& I didn't think that was possible!). Flags are so much fun.

  5. Cheryl! You always did have a talent for photography. I just try to be like you. I hope you haven't been checking my blog, only to find 2-month old posts about a trip I took 5 months ago!!! I'm going to repent, I swear. Love seeing what the fabulous Bikmans are up to. How are you hanging in?
